Alexandria Williams

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Registered Nurse (RN)

Alexandria (Alex) Williams is a Portland native whose roots run deep in the N/NE Portland community. Her journey into midwifery was shaped by a lifelong commitment to compassionate service, health equity, and empowering families through informed, respectful care.

Before pursuing midwifery, Alex gained invaluable frontline experience in healthcare as both a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Health Information Manager in a nursing facility, where she developed a strong appreciation for continuity of care and the importance of dignified, patient-centered support. These early experiences fueled her desire to expand her impact and pursue advanced nursing education.

Alex earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health & Science University’s BSN program in 2022, where she quickly emerged as a leader and advocate. Recognizing a gap in representation and community support for students of color, she co-founded the Black Student Nurses Umoja of OHSU, serving as its first President. Under her leadership, the organization grew into a vibrant community dedicated to mentorship, advocacy, and belonging for students of the African diaspora.

Following her nursing licensure, Alex completed OHSU’s rigorous Doctor of Nursing Practice program, specializing as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Her capstone project, Mitigation of Nurse-Midwifery Burnout: A Mentorship Program Implementation Plan, reflected her dedication to supporting the long-term wellbeing and sustainability of providers within her field. Before joining our team at Bella Vie, Alex gained extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings including OHSU, Legacy Medical Group, Adventist Health, and Hillsboro Medical Center—where she had the opportunity to hone in on her skills in comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.

In her practice, Alex is deeply committed to evidence-based, culturally attuned, and family-centered care, ensuring that every patient feels seen, heard, and respected. She has a particular passion for serving underserved communities and advancing birth equity, believing that every family deserves access to safe, empowering, and compassionate maternity care.

Alex approaches every birth as a sacred experience and considers it a profound honor to walk beside families through one of life’s most transformative journeys.

Beyond her professional life, Alex is known for her warmth, curiosity, and love of connection. She enjoys playing pickleball, cooking alongside her partner and children, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and spending quality time with family and friends.
